Supposedly new laptop sold by Amazon needed way too many updates. Curious but ok, finished those. Went to register with Lenovo for warranty and Lenovo stated there is only 8 months left of a 14-month warranty. I contacted Amazon support and the solution was for me to contact Lenovo??? I purposely purchased from Amazon as the seller. Apparently no protection there.

Just received this to replace an older laptop which is starting to get wonky. I use it to surf the internet, social media, basic documents and watch videos. I am not a gamer. I do not like touch screen laptops so if you require one, this is not the laptop. However, I do like a backlit keyboard and this one has it. It is not as bright as the keys on the laptop I just replaced (Acer) but it will do. My other one went on as soon as I started typing, on the Lenovo, the lights stay on all the time. It is a smaller footprint than my other one (hence “slim” in the version) and it is fast and responds well. I do not use the fingerprint sensor but it has one which is pretty cool. I think it has some AI features as well. So far, so good. If you need a solid, basic laptop with some bells and whistles, this is a great choice.

From my first impressions, this Lenovo laptop was a winner. The real aluminum surfaces gave the laptop a premium look and feel. The slim profile and lightweight made it an easy travel companion. But, it was not light on features which came with Windows 11 ready to go. Initial setup was easy. Just follow the prompts for WiFi password, etc. Plan to set aside some time for the expected Software updates. The screen looked beautiful from various angles. While the tiny built-in speakers cannot be expected to pump out heart pounding bass, the sound was clear and intelligible with decent volume. As an added bonus, even the keyboard was backlit. I mainly use the laptop for YouTube viewing, Internet surfing and light gaming. Everything worked well. The videos were rendered smoothly and glitch-free. A very nice laptop indeed.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i is a great budget laptop that delivers on many features without breaking the bank combining top performance with reliability in a compact and sleek design.

Thanks to its Intel Core i5-1335U processor, multitasking feels effortless, and performance remains consistently smooth. The 15.6″ FHD IPS display delivers decent visuals for the price but it’s not the best given it lacks the modern OLED panels or even FHD with higher resolutions. However, I think 1080p is just good enough for day to day tasks.

I was most impressed with a generous 512GB SSD storage that is hard to beat at this price point. The versatile connectivity options ensure seamless access to various devices. While the battery life is rated to be up to 10 hours, in my testing playing multimedia it went down from 85% to 55% in 2.5 hours. So while you might get the 10 hours but that requires mixed use but not videos or multimedia. The fingerprint works fast and once again a great feature for the price point.

What surprised me the most was despite its power, this laptop maintains a slim and portable design, making it a very light and slim laptop to handle. This is important as I need to lug this around the campus and having it light weight is very helpful. Overall I give it a 5 star as its very well balanced and great as a starter college laptop.
