I used a Samsung 27-inch monitor for the past 18 years, and while it was great, it maxed out at 1920×1080 at 60Hz. That was fine for its time, but with my new computer build, I wanted to get more out of my monitor. Initially, I was skeptical about how much of a difference a higher refresh rate would make. We’ve all heard the claim that the human eye can’t perceive anything beyond 30 FPS or 30Hz, but the real proof is in the experience.
While the eye might not technically “see” the difference, you can definitely feel it—especially when it comes to reduced eye fatigue and smoother gameplay. A higher refresh rate helps today’s more powerful video cards eliminate screen tearing, and the improved resolution is incredible in terms of visual quality. I was hesitant about spending more on my gaming setup, but I can confidently say it was worth every penny. It truly unleashed the full potential of my new computer.
I didn’t realize how much my old monitor was limiting my experience until I made the switch. If anything happened to my ASUS ROG Strix monitor, I’d definitely buy it again. And as a bonus, the white version looks super sharp next to my all-white build in the Corsair 4000X RGB Mid Tower case.
