Insert page, hit the button, 10 seconds later the software pops up and it scans, then hit stop and rename and your done. I love it.
Only good for up to 8 inch wide single sheets. (Standard paper size)

Despite spending 10 hours of my time calling HP support this product does not work. I spent several hours trying to set this product up on my own, FAIL. Calling HP support and gave them the model and serial # that is on the bottom of the scanner, THEY STATED THE PRODUCT AND SERIAL DONOT EXIST AND THEREFORE IT CAN NOT BE An HP PRODUCT. After I showed them it product on the Amazon site they left me on hold for 42 min and came back to give me a number and web site to call. That support person just told me to follow the directions on the website.
This got the scanner to scan. HOWEVER, EVERY TIME i TRY TO SAME THE SCANNED IMMIGE i GET “UNKNOWN ERROR AND HAVE TO RESTART MY WINDOWS SYSTEM

It scanned very slow and not very good quality. Also after you scanned a couple of pictures it would seem to loose them. I would not recommend this scanner.

Saved so much time being able to scan in bills and other docs right away, saving to digital, connecting to paid payments, and doing away with the additional paper trail. I live in a rather urban area, but we don’t have regulation on a lot of utility providers, thus I still get some paper bills. This has made my life easier.

This is an awesome tool for saving family pictures to your laptop computer. Just be careful how you save and check settings. Get the actual HP Scan software that is listed in tiny print in the manual. No need to purchase Cloud storage which is what they push.

I love my new scanner! I had been needing one for a long time for document purposes, and this one had good reviews for both performance and price.
The installation was a massive headache; my firewall/security program would NOT let the driver download through, marking it as a dangerous security threat. I tried many different solutions and none of them worked. I even disabled the security entirely but to no avail. I finally ran across a video where the man said to enter it as a file rather than a program. I moved the file from ‘Downloads’ to ‘Documents’ and tried again, and–after over five previous hours of struggling–it reluctantly went through. I kept getting a message from my computer, the same one over and over, about trusting the file from this certain source. Be patient–it flashed about six times with the same message before it finally went through. Just ignore it after you allow the file through/trust it.
Once I was on the HP setup site (be sure to type in that extra ‘s’), it (the site) didn’t want to recognize the scanner. I unplugged the scanner from the USB and restarted the computer, and it finally finished the setup.
The instructions could be clearer for running and adjusting the files once they are scanned. This is more my fault than the manufacturer as this is my very first scanner. I am still learning the ropes. For example, I ended up using a continuous type scan command, and I ended up with two different documents in one file, one cut off halfway through. As I said, MY FAULT and MY INEXPERIENCE.
Overall, it is a good purchase. The machine is small and easily plugs into my USB port whenever I need it. It doesn’t take up space sitting on my desk getting dusty. I just put it back in the box when I’m not using it. I have only used it to print documents. It will save your work as a PDF document on your computer. Just let it go to the folder that it wishes. I made the mistake of trying to save it directly to photos and it froze.
Once I get some more working experience with the scanner, I will enjoy it even more. I would’ve given it a 5/5 if I hadn’t had the issue with the firewall. It gave this little old lady a fright, I’ll tell you WHAT.

The set-up was pretty quick. Had to include a ‘s’ (plural) on the software app download site ‘hpworksolution[s].com. Once the driver is downloaded, synching with computer (mine is Windows) was fast. With the app and using USB connection, I immediately did several test scans and it worked perfectly with great clarity in the scan. And scanner is very lightweight. I purchased for travel/wfh purposes.

Bought the HP PSS100 to use on my Mac Mini (M1) because I wanted color scans. “Unknown error” on fail to save scan. Trashed and reloaded software. Same problem. Restarted computer. Same problem. Worked occasionally. Software, unlike that for my previous Epson DS-70, does not allow automatic saving to file location such as Desktop, Epson has auto scan also, and when you pause more than 30 seconds, it automatically saves the doc–HP is more manual operated and less user friendly. Just missed the deadline to send this pig back and get my company’s money back–my bad, I was traveling and did not have time to review the HP until this weekend. Bad product. Software written by sophomores. Now this is my $130 donation to Goodwill today and I will buy another Epson, even if I have to give up on the color option that HP offered. Too bad. Why is this HP still sold? Amazon, please test and compare to the Epson DS-70.
I pulled my Epson DS-70 out of the Goodwill box and was able to use it again immediately. Really, I am not an IT guy, but I am an electrical engineer and I design control systems; for the HP software to be this non-thinking is baffling.
