I received this scanner a few days ago so I cannot speak to its long-term performance or durability, but so far it works GREAT. The software was a little difficult to install & setup. The software is abit clunky to use. But the software & scanner are more reliable than my MUCH more expensive desktop scanner. And I can use this scanner in my lap as I scan! It scans color documents. It does not do 2-sided scanning directly, but if you scan side 1, then turn the document over & insert the reverse side into the scanner & click “+scan” it will scan the reverse side. When saved to a computer the results are the same as those from a 2-sided scanner. The same button can be used to add multiple pages to a scan. All in all a pretty impressive scanner.

Easy to set up, easy to use! Compact size is perfect for my desk! I had to purchase a scanner for our business and had been looking at larger models. I ran across this small scanner. I was highly skeptical it would be of any quality, but given the price, thought I could risk it and if it didn’t work out, I would purchase something different. Boy, has this thing worked great! EASY, EASY, EASY to set up. Connected to my computer with a USB, easy software download and I was up and running. I’ve scanned documents of all sizes. Easy to feed into machine. Love this so much, just ordered one for my personal office at home!

I have scanned almost 2000 photos so far and have at least that to go.
All things considered, I could not ask for a better scanner. It was inexpensive, portable, plenty fast and just works. Note: outside of scanning the text on the back of pictures and stitching it to the front, I have not done any text scanning. The stitching option is wonderful.
The only 3 issues that I have (I tried to explain my work arounds) and I consider them minor are :
    1. You sometimes have to reorient dark photos or use a light background slightly larger than the photo or the scanner will crop out the dark parts. This is understandable since the rollers are black.
    2. Very thin high gloss photos have to have constant pressure in and out (manual by pushing and pulling the photo) or the rollers will slip on the picture. Thicker, high gloss photos don’t do this.
    3. The app needs some work as it appears to be outdated. Won’t do some of the features on larger files as it will crash and close. Work around save the file as is and do what you need to do thru a Microsoft or whatever photo editing app. This only happens on really large pictures.

I did not have any problems with gray scale or color scanning at the max 1200BPI (once I figured out the app).

Like others, I found a mountain of photos after my mother died. Many old family pictures that I couldn’t just discard but took up a lot of room. I bought this to scan and save those photos to a smaller package. Works well for the purpose.

For color photos this unit is great. It’s fast, easy to use, portable. Software has very basic controls for adjusting image quality.

One big caveat, it does NOT work on old, glossy, black and white photos. Hard to explain the effect but the image itself is only black and white with no grayscale so everything is washed out. Having to use an old, slow, flatbed scanner for these.

Overall I’m happy with my purchase. Pretty good value for what it offers.

This Epson portable page scanner measures about 11″ wide by 2″ deep. You use the provided cable to connect the scanner (micro USB port) to a computer (USB). Then you slip the page as far as it will go and listen for a micro advancement that indicates it is ready to go. Push the button at the top-right, and page advances and is scanned. Epson software gives you output options, such as saving to PDF. Maximum scanning width is 8.5″. Just be sure to align the page to be scanned with the left-hand inside edge. No complaints. You may have to nudge the bottom edge of the page. That’s it!

I used this once to scan a bunch of documents. The picture quality was really good. After that first use, I stored it away for about a month and pulled it back out to use again. Windows detected the scanner, but the Epson ScanSmart software could not detect it. Since the Non-so ScanSmart software has no function to exit/close, I had to kill the process. After I restarted the software, I unplugged the scanner and plugged the it back in, at which point ScanSmart detected it, but still would not scan. I would press the scan button on the scanner and ScanSmart would pop-up (indicating it received the command), but then tell me to load the original document into the ADF to scan (which the document was already loaded). This functioned perfectly the first time, but yeah, I’m done. I tried this far too many times now. Combined with trying to combat software that wants to run on startup with the computer, has trouble detecting it’s own product, has no troubleshooting or restart functions, and will not close , Revo Uninstaller to the rescue and the scanner is in about a thousand pieces in my garbage bin outside. I would give this 0 stars if I could.

Great to capture receipts and documents while on the road. However, troublesome when trying to troubleshoot an error. Definitely no help from Epson. Manuals good for the simple problems. After less than 90 days, the scanner started to act up with errors on scan. Tried reset, reinstall drivers, cycle power (remove USB cable and plugged back in after a few seconds). Very typical troubleshooting — no joy. Otherwise a pretty cool and useful tool to have on the road with you to scan documents, receipts, etc. Saves time when you get home to file cost reports.

I loved this product when it arrived, but only used it a few times and it just stopped working, despite trying new connections, multiple computers. Instructions say to attach USB directly to computer – my MAC OS laptop doesn’t have a USB port. Big disappointment. Makes me hesitant to order a replacement.
