I LOVED this mouse at first. It’s a big improvement over my old mouse that had a ball. Recently, the side buttons started to lose their programming. I didn’t even change it; I kept the default settings. Sometimes I find myself opening my mouse software every few minutes to click the OK button, just to make the side buttons work. I wish I had bought the cheaper one, but I don’t feel like going through the hassle of returning this mouse and hooking up another one.

I’m adding to this. I gave away that mouse 2 two years ago, when I bought a new computer. An optical mouse came with the computer. I do NOT miss the extra buttons.

This product is OBSOLETE. It tracks well but the “programmable” buttons are useless. The last update to this driver was in 2006 and it is NOT supported by Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center.

If you are using Microsoft Windows 10 or higher (and, really, what choice do you have?) then this mouse will not deliver on its promise.

Thank you Microsoft for your constant thumbing your nose at your customer base, making everything an upsell, and thank you American Wolf for ripping me off.

I really get sick of this bait and switch malarky.

Like most I run through computer mice and other pointing devices on a regular basis. Long ago I gave up the ball mouse for an optical version. This one’s nice in that you can program all the controls for your preferences or leave it at default as it came from the factory.

When surfing or doing work, knowing you can just slighly move a finger or thumb and go back or forward a website, or forward or back a page in a document you’re working on, very nice.

One of the better features is the scroll wheel. Like most, you can program it for how fast scolling will be (light speed or a slow crawl) but when you depress the wheel all the open windows adjust on your desktop, all displayed. Now all you need to do is move to the one you want to work on, click it and ta da, that’s now the active window…wait, not the right one? Not a problem, click the scroll wheel again and you’re right back to all the open windows displayed, pick another.

Lightweight, sturdy, good choice for those who don’t want to change batteries all the time.

Every part of this is well designed. Works equally well left or right-handed. Has 5 buttons (1 on each side, 2 main buttons and a click action on the wheel). I wish Microsoft still made these! I’ve tried to find a replacement that I like, but have had zero luck.

like the title says, this mouse is a great value, sitting between the intellimouse explorer and intellimouse wheel. it fits my hand perfectly too, as it is not as big at the explorer.
fuctionwise, the tracking is unparalleled–the new intellieye scanning at 6,000 times per second makes the mouse virtually skip-free, unlike older optical mice. the 5 fully programmable buttons are awesome too. the inteiipoint software allows you to assign different functions to different buttons, in different programs! i even have a button that saves my document in microsoft word! it’s really a brilliant invention.
my only gripe about this mouse is its weight. it is on the light side, and i hear the hollow cluck every time i pick it up when i’m playing a game. i’ve grown used to it by now, but it took a couple of weeks.
in short, i believe this is the perfect mouse for me. its optical eye works great, the buttons are ingenious, and the low price at amazon.com (…) make this mouse the best bang for your buck!

I love this mouse. I’ve gone through two of this type of mouse but each one lasted around 5+ years of hard use and abuse. It has taken a beating as it has fallen off of the desk onto the tile floor dozens of times, tossed in laptop bags, grabbed and thrown by small children, etc., and STILL works great.
The buttons are easy to customize in general and for specific programs. It works on many different surfaces. Comfortable for lefties like me as well as right handed people. One of the recent tumbles the mouse took has partially broke one of the side buttons making that button mostly useless now but I am still able to use the mouse effectively. I will probably end up buying a new mouse within the next few months due to the beating I’ve given this one over the last five years or so but plan to buy the same exact mouse a third time.
    Well worth the price!
