I bought this printer via amazon and had high hopes to free myself of the expensive ink with other brands of printers. but there was something wrong with it when trying to set it up. Called Epson customer service and after several minutes they said it had a defective hardware issue and could not be fixed by phone support. they connected me to warranty dept. Incredibly, the warranty department put every conceivable obstacle in the way to honoring warranty. they wanted the Amazon reciept, which they made me take a scree shot of and send them. then once i did that, they said that wasn’t acceptable as it didn’t show if it came from 3rd party seller. I said. “what difference does that make”. the reciept showed me as the purchaser, the exact product description and date of purchase and delivery and amount paid. what else more did they need. So after 20 minutes of back and forth with Epson on this, they said they’d accept the Amazon reciept. so then they were going to send me another if i sent the defective one back first. I didn’t trust that as if i sent it back without the replacement first, and then they just neve sent the replacement, i’d be SOL. so they said they would charge my credit card the amount of the defective printer and mail me the replacement first and issue me a credit when the defective one got to them. but then they said i was giving them invalid credit card info and they could not process warranty claim. I knew the credit card info was accurate and called Discover customer service on another line and put them and Epson customer service on speaker phone to basically create a 3 way call. Discover said that the Epson person was inputing address incorrectly and thats why it was getting rejected. Epson had my full printed address from Amazon reciept and the Discover representative and myself repeated the address to the Epson rep again to him verbally. but he still said he could not process warranty claim and that we were giving him wrong address. In summation after two hours, it became plain Epson refused to honor their warranty by all these fake receipt and address issues that did not exist. I ended up calling Amazon and explained all this to them and how Epson kept me on the phone for two hours and would not honor warranty. so Amazon took it back. So i am returning it to them. So for me, I will never buy an epson product ever again. they refuse to honor their warranty. defective right out of the box and all the above occurs. Since it never worked from day one, i can’t clearly rate product features, etc. but buy this brand at your own risk. If you do buy it, make sure you get it from a retailer who will stand behind you as Epson surely will not.

I purchased this printer to replace a HP inkjet printer. I thought that the mega tank and other features would satisfy my needs. I liked the mega tank feature, I wouldn’t have to be replacing ink cartridges like the HP printer. What I didn’t like about the Epson ET 4800 printer was the lack of duplex printing and scanning to email or memory stick (usb), features that should be standard on all printers by now.

Decent performance printer. Bought on a daily deal. Not disappointed. Photo printing was as expected from Epson.

Some partners, trays etc seems a bit flimsy though. Time will tell.

I was replacing an HP that made me crazy, though I did like the scanner. It was easy to install and adding the ink to each tank was easy, just match the ink color to the tank color. It works well. There is a learning curve to the software as it wanted everything on the “cloud”, NO I said. Also the rollers on the scanner are cheap, it will take a couple of sheets, I’ve done up to 4 sheets. The rollers tend to jam the paper pushing originals thru. I was displeased with this and the scanning software was the cloud again, at the bottom you can chose a folder to save to, also I used the ADF feed instead of default (or glasstop is ok), and the box (click) where you can choose to add a page or save will bring up a second screen for choices. I like that it is a space saver, half the size of the other one. Yes I am pleased with its operation. Wished the scanner was more sturdy, I scan a lot. Its about $50 to replace the ink for all carts. Its a good product.

This was the most complicated setup procedure I’ve ever experienced with an all-in-one printer/scanner/fax. Of course, who uses fax any more? The computer could not find the printer, so I had to use the tiny LCD screen on the printer to identify the wifi network and then manually enter the long Bell password. Instructions were sadly lacking for this procedure. Filling the ink tanks was easy; the bottles are self-emptying, but the magenta bottle dribbed some ink after being removed from the ink tank. We wanted an ink-tank printer because ink cartridges hold a ridiculous small amount of ink and are very expensive. Setting up the second laptop was much, much easier. The printer feels flimsy, but it feeds the paper OK and the print quality is outstanding. So if you can get past the complicated setup procedure, this printer should serve you well.

    Printer Review from an Artist.

Printer cost with a 3-year extended warranty – $199.00. Came with four full bottles of Ink. Each bottle was huge, and enough to completely fill up the tanks. In my old Epson printer that used Epson 127 Ink Cartridges a cartridge held 8ml of ink. The cost per cartridge for the XL Black was $31.00 on Amazon. In comparison, a bottle of ink for the tank printer costs $15.00 and holds 65ml. The Epson 127 Ink Cartridge is rated at 175 pages for the XL cartridge and the Tank Printer is rated at 4500 pages per bottle of ink. So, the difference in cost is striking.

Unboxing the printer was simple enough. The printer weighs about half the weight of my old Epson printer. The new printer does not have printer drawers but, back feed only. This actually worked out well for me since I was constantly taking the paper in out and out of the drawers when changing paper size. Also, with this direct paper feed, I figure it will handle my heavier weight card stock paper that I use for my art and greeting cards. To my great surprise, the printer offers two-sided printing. This is really handy when printing my Zines. The printer setup was extremely easy as they recommend a phone app, that walks you through each step with pictures. And it communicated perfectly with the phone for the setup. It takes about 15 minutes to completely set up the printer. I have learned to not rush setup. Take your time, and follow the instructions step by step, Which include filling the tanks.

    Features,
    * The printer dues Dual-Sided Print – Great for zines.
    * It has fax capability, but we do not have a landline, so that will not be used.
    * It does copying, with a document feeder or you can lift the feeder and place the document on the glass.
    * I mostly use my Epson Precision San copier but it is nice if you wish to make a quick copy of a document.
    * Some reviews complained about the very small LED display but I find that by using the app or computer I can control all that I need to do.

Print Alignment. I did this test but the printer heads did not require any alignment.

During the setup process, the program installs the printer driver on my computer. However I found it to be the very basic driver, and I went to the Epson Website and downloaded and installed the latest driver which is very robust and has all the settings that I needed.
The printer’s footprint is smaller than my old printer. And my old printer had two paper drawers, though I never used the second drawer.

    Negatives.
The output tray is flimsy and seems like it would easily break if bumped when I walked past the printer, so I have to be careful about this.
So far I do not see a way of checking the ink levels from the computer. And they said in the instructions to be sure to check your ink levels. You can see on the front of the printer, where you can see the ink levels. When you purchase more ink, you can attach the bottle and it will not overfill the tanks, and you can then use more ink from the bottle later. So I will purchase a complete set of ink and keep it and as it runs low with about 1/4 left in the tank, I will just fill it up.

So far I am very happy with the investment and now printing and ink cost is not a major factor. And I figure I will do a lot of printing with this printer when the holiday season rolls around for my greeting cards.

As for print quality, I will need to report on this later, though there were no negative reviews of print quality. A test print on regular paper and the colors seemed to be spot on.

One note, I still will continue to use my Canon Pro-300 Wide Printer for my Fine Art Prints, but the new Tank Printer will be my studio workhorse.

This multi-function machine is just what I have needed for years! It is compact, user friendly and well made.

I love the idea of the Eco-tank and expect that it will save big bucks in the future. They should all be this way!

When I think of all of the ink cartridges that I have bought through the years, I’ll be so happy to never waste my money on another one ever again.

It does a good job on all functions. I can’t say how long it will last, so I am buying another one now just in case I won’t be able to get another in the future.
