Good price for the value, it’s much, much faster than an HDD, I never used an SSD before. Takes less than 10 seconds to boot to login screen and when I login it fully loads basically right away. With an HDD it takes 1-2 minutes to get into login screen and then after that it takes another roughly 2 minutes to fully load up and be able to open programs.

With SSD prices being low these days I definitely recommend getting an SSD, and the m.2 version isn’t much more than sata SSDs so definitely go for that it’s even faster.

Keep in mind though you need a small screw to hold it down and this doesn’t come with a screw so if you don’t have the one from your motherboard you’ll need to buy a screw for it.

This SSD worked perfectly the speed matches the advertised, I installed it in a laptop, so it heats up a lot while gaming, but it still works with the expected speeds while working hard with the higher temps inside a gaming laptop

As of October 2024 I would say this would be THE 1tb NVME to buy.

Gen 3 nvme’s seem to be phasing out, so in the next year or so I would assume everything will be gen 4. However currently this drive being gen 4, offering the speeds it does and being this price point, it’s very hard to beat.

I didn’t do a synthetic benchmark on this specific device, as it doesn’t translate exactly to real world performance. However I can confirm windows reported 3gb/s transfer speeds while moving some large files around on this drive.

Overall, this is a great drive at an amazing price point. Flash storage is a volatile market, so as long as this drive stays competitively priced this is a definite buy.

My computer now has a staggering 6TB of storage. I needed that much because I have 1.5 TB of music and about 3TB of movies because I have to travel frequently and this provides a wonderful amount of entertainment while on flights. Also, since work files are surprisingly small, I also have a large number of games as well. Now I no longer need to have a portable outboard storage unit.

I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase of this drive. I am very happy with the results that I was able to achieve especially for a drive without a DRAM cache.

The drive is in an M.2 2280 form factor so keep that in mind when choosing a drive for a laptop or other small device, as it may be too long, so be sure to check the compatibility with the manual of the device you plan to put it in. This drive WILL fit in a PlayStation 5, but is not fast enough to recommend for said use case.

I recommend this drive to those needing a large and modern drive but at a very good price. Ideal use cases would be for game libraries or security camera video storage.

    Reasons to recommend:
    – Great price from a reputable brand
    – PCIe gen 4 which is a steal at this price
    – Great speeds considering the lack of DRAM cache
    – No required heat sink

    Reasons to avoid:
    – 1TB is not a lot in today’s world; for this price you can easily find a 2TB hard disk drive
    – No DRAM cache
    – Speeds are good, but not great
    – Installation can be more in-depth than something like an external hard drive

    Into the nitty-gritty.

I ordered this as a secondary drive for my Dell XPS 9710. This laptop has two PCIe 4×4 slots that will accommodate a 2280 M.2 expansion card. I did not need anything too fast, just extra storage for game libraries and creative files (Photoshop, Blender, Premiere, Ableton, and the like).

The packaging was very small and minimal but still good quality. My drive had a different color PCB – a very dark blue/black. While not an issue (I actually prefer it), it is worth noting. The serial number is correct and it is the same drive as sold on Amazon. Installation was a breeze and the drive is sized properly.

Going by the benchmarks that I ran, the primary use of this drive should be items that will not be randomly accessed. I would not recommend this as a primary drive for a computer or running an operating system on this. Storing documents, games, or other file types that will be loaded sequentially into RAM when accessed will work great here.

Average sequential reads according to CrystalDiskMark were about 3500GB/s and average sequential writes were about 2570GB/s. These write speeds are as advertised, but be aware that there is a reason write speeds are not advertised – the lack of DRAM cache is hurting them a lot.

Average sequential reads according to Atto were HEAVILY favored to larger queries, and you can expect full speeds at 512KB queries or larger. Average optimal reads are about 3000GB/s and average optimal writes were about 2400GB/s. These read speeds are significantly lower than CrystalDiskMark’s findings and less than advertised.

I rate this product overall 4.5/5 stars due to its absolute steal of a price for what you get. I would prefer the inclusion of a DRAM cache, but it is hard to complain.

If you buy this as a secondary drive for someone on a budget, you won’t be disappointed.

I like that its a solid drive, and is cross compatible with 3.0 M.2 ports. Speed is very middle of the road, but as a general storage drive for holding your files, it does its job quite well and at a VERY good price. If you’re on a budget and need to fill a port on your motherboard, this Kingston drive is a good choice. Recommend for bulk storage.

Maybe not the fastest NVMe on the market, but for the price tag ($56.99), high capacity (1TB), speed (3500MB/s), this is a great bargain and probably the best priced NVMe (by a reputable brand) on Amazon. It works very well, zero errors, zero bad sectors, and no overheating. Very useful for those without PCIe 4 slots and can’t achieve 7500MB/s. Yet still a lot faster than SATA HDDs/SSDs and early PCIe M.2 drives.
