Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 – Slate

Was very easy to setup and good for everyday use. The USB connector underneath makes it very convenient to store so you don’t lose it.

I love this mouse! I got it to go with my laptop, but I almost want to carry it with me and use it any time I’m using one of the three or four other PC’s in my life.

I like a mouse that has a light click feel. Most better Logitech mice have a good feel and this one matches those. My previous favorite mouse was that old Microsoft white mouse that had the large back-end. . .can’t think of the name of it, but it was a ball mouse. The 3000 matches the original Microsoft mouse plus being an optical mouse puts the icing on the cake.

The scroll wheel of the 3000 is good, but I’ve used mice that had a better feel.

The size is just right. Compact enough to take along but big enough to use for extended periods.

I also like the fact that the USB dongle/plug/transmitter stores in the bottom of the mouse AND when you snap it in the storage slot it cuts off the power so the battery is not continuously drained. Very thoughtful.

Edit: As of August 2009, I don’t use this mouse any more. A couple of months ago my Dell Laptop (Inspiron 9400) blue-screened a couple of times and it had never done that before. After a bit of research on the error message, it seems that some USB devices cause a conflict. I didn’t go further with the research, but I do know that my laptop never blue screens unless I’m using this mouse. I wish I knew how to correct the problem, because other than that I still like this mouse and miss using it.

I received my wireless mouse today, right on the expected shipping date! Everything was included: mouse, battery, USB receiver. You don’t have to contact Microsoft for any software….it’s plug and play I guess, all I did was insert the battery in the mouse, plug in the receiver and it worked! (I have a laptop) It’s a pleasure to get rid of a corded mouse, the less cords, the better! Going wireless tomorrow with broadband, so can eliminate 25 ft of cable running to a spare bedroom lol! This mouse is a little smaller than a standard mouse I think, but it’s super easy to use and the smaller size is cool!! Mostly you rest your fingers on it anyway…do you really need it all the way to your wrist? I got the apple green…love it (just like a frosty lime green)!

The packaging is another story…it did not come in the easy open packaging it stated…..but the older clam shell bullet proof hard plastic that is virtually a shoplifter’s nightmare!! Took me 40 minutes to get into it…….tried everything, and finally used a box cutter to cut down the side and pull the product out the slit. Geeeeeeezzzzzzz, I even cut my stomach on the hard plastic that chipped off while I was holding it against my body to try and pull it apart. If you have access to the “jaws of life” from a nearby fire department..that would be perfect!!

Anyway…I love the mouse….get it….have a party and give out a prize to whoever can open it without a gun or instrument of some kind! ha ha but have bandaids ready!!
