Not my first drone, but this is super easy to use. As with all over 250g drones, you need a licence. You have to register and do all that. After charging everything going to how to use, and first flight everything was smooth and easy to do. This drone doesn’t work with the flight simulator app, but honestly it’s so easy to fly you don’t need it.
    It’s very point and fly.
(Keeping in mind I get easily motion sick) Other than a slight nausea feeling when banking a dropped turn, I love it and haven’t had a problem with feeling nauseous.
    Super fun.

The media could not be loaded.

Takes great cinematic videos in 4k. So it’s a great tool for videographers. With the motion controller, it’s very easy for beginners to learn to fly. It is going to be harder for people that use Android devices to connect to their drone. DJI fly app isn’t available. I was lucky enough that my brother let me borrow his phone to set up my drone. But at any rate, it is just a blast to fly around. The battery lasts about 15 to 20 minutes. Depending on which mode you fly in. It’s roughly 6.5″ wide by 6″ long, so relatively compact. Over all I’d say it was money well spent.

This Explorer Combo with the Integra googles do not need an internet connection to fly only GPS. Very easy to learn. Bit louder than expected but all drones are. Signal holds up well even in heavy redwood and mountains. Set up a bit confusing but
-Turn on with short press then 3 second hold
-Pair the units following the headset display instructions
-Plug in your headset to your phone with the DJI app and it will have updates for your stuff. TURN ON AND CONNECT ALL DEVICES TO UPDATE THEM ALL BEFORE UPDATING

Battery charges in 1 hour with 50watt adaptor and discharges in 18minutes as advertised.

Though you can’t go 60 with the motion controller, it is significantly more intuitive (like a Wii remote) to fly with, and you can still go very fast, fast enough to learn to fly with before getting a controller in the future. Everything works very smoothly, the drone itself is durable and battery life is very good for an fpv drone, though I would recommend getting a couple extra for that extended use. It takes beautiful cinematic video that is so much more “personalized” because it really feels like you’re there, taking the video/photo yourself

Compare to the old fashion drone which works with mobile phone – this is Rolls-Royce.
I do not mind that the battery last for 15 minutes.
    Money well invested.

You can never go wrong with DJI drones. The avata is my introduction into fpv and I’m loving it. It is very stable in flight. Response time is near perfect. I really wish it would come with the fpv remote but the motion controller is not bad at all. Test flew it and recorded. Video quality is top notch. Well worth the money

You don’t know until you buy this that your FAA ID has to be verified prior to EACH liftoff. This means that you have to have your phone connected to the goggles, WITH A NETWORK CONNECTION, before you can fly the drone. If you’re in your front yard, now you need your phone WIRED to the goggles to fly. BTW, this also drains the goggles’ battery, because it’s charging your phone now.

If you’re in nature, without a network connection, you’re hosed. No fly. None. No drone flight. Period. If you can’t wire your phone to the goggles AND get a network connection to your phone (you know, like everywhere worth photographing) then you’re not allowed to take off.

This is NOT acceptable. I’ll be returning mine, which is too bad, because it’s a nice unit that flies well.

First off, this is a GREAT drone – we love flying it. Its VERY simple to learn how to fly this thing. The biggest problem is just getting it set up in the first place. The video tutorials didn’t seem to really match the hardware but it was “close enough” to make it work. They also don’t have hardly ANY decent videos.

The hardest step by far is updating the firmware on everything and for people without a technical background, it might be a bit intimidating. But you REALLY need to update that firmware to fix earlier topple problems that they fixed with a software patch. You basically plug the headset into your phone, install the app, and follow the steps. However it didn’t always “take” because it felt like I had to patch it 3 times in a row before it stopped complaining. Once you are past that, everything gets MUCH easier. So go find yourself an 8 year old that can do the firmware updates for you and give them a cookie.

The other thing to know is that you need to double-tap then HOLD power buttons to turn things on and off – that was SOOOO confusing, and I could never figure out how to turn on/off the battery.

The headset is very comfortable and super super easy to loosen/tighten – probably the easiest I’ve ever used. The picture is clear and smooth. The only downside I’ve found is that the eye width adjustment does not go far enough – not everyone has an elf-sized head and it needs to go wider.

The controller fits in your hand nice and olds a good charge. I do wish that it had some kind of external antenna so that it had better range – I’m CONSTANTLY getting warnings about it – but it doesn’t seem to affect flight.

We’ve had this thing 2000 feet in the air with no issues, although it does seem to be a bit affected by wind shear more than others it’s size.

Battery life is ok – 15 minutes maybe? But of course its like a car – it depends on how you drive it.

My biggest complaint – and it might be just learning more on my part – but once the battery hits 10%, it just stops and hovers. It will ignore your commands, which is REALLY frustrating when you are racing to get back to home and you are 20 feet off the shore over water and it just STOPS. Then I have to get the boys wet wading out into water to grab it. Let the operator OVERRIDE it if they want – the operator knows best most of the time. Now once again, there might be a way and I just haven’t found it yet.

Overall, this thing has been a BLAST and (don’t tell me wife) I just ordered a 2nd one.

Another comment before I save this, the batteries are WAY TOO FREAKING EXPENSIVE – c’mon DJI, quit being greedy. We own 4 batteries now and I’m broke. Oh, and make it easier to remove the batteries from the drone while you are at it.

    Highly Recommended Drone!
