I should have gave it one star, but the system is ok to play! There is just no sound from the system! Thats why i have to rate this with two stars! I will never order a game system from them again! But i will still shop at amazon regardless! But this one is a rip off!

I bought the Sega because I still have a ton of games for it and my original system had died years ago.
Ideally, I would give 0 stars for the product I received but 5 for the system in general.
I was very dissapointed to find upon arrival that the machine I received was absolutely filthy, like some slob had been eating over it and scratching it while playing it for quite some time. I understand it is used, but seriously, they couldn’t even wipe it off?
The second thing I noticed was that it did not come with 2 or even one controller, even though they are pictured for the item.
Lastly, I purchased this because it said it had the composite (yellow, red & white) cables instead of a coaxial hookup, this was also false.
I realize these problems are all the fault of the seller and not of the system, but make sure you look into the seller first, mine was 1UP Video Games.

The Genesis Model 2 system is excellent. I had honestly never seen one in real life until I got mine. I had only seen Model 1 Genesis before I received this in the mail. I plugged it in to my TV and played games I had wanted to play since my childhood. I never had a Genesis as a kid, yet I always wanted one. The controller is excellent, the build quailty of the console itself is great, the whole thing is just great. There’s no wonder that it’s their most well known console. It’s absolutely excellent, and I’ve spent quite a few hours playing this beauty. Would I recommend it over a Model 1? It depends on you. Personally, I like the look of this console more than a model 1. To me, the model 1 is like an Alienware, and the model 2 is like a Lenovo ThinkPad. Both look nice, but in different ways. To me having an all black finish on anything is beautiful, so I had to get this one. I’ve read that the model 1 has better sound, but to me the sound is fine on my model 2. If you are considering purchasing a Sega Genesis Model 2, do it. You won’t regret it.

This is a great console. I remember as a kid, I would go over to my friend’s house and play sonic, streets of rage and tons of other games that I can’t remember the names of now. I ordered this and after a fair amount of cleaning it looks spotless and almost brand new. It looks sleek sitting next to the more modern, and larger, consoles of today. The model 2 is probably the best model to get for a small, lightweight genesis that’s still compatible with all the accessories and games that came out for it. The controllers are pretty good, not my most favorite style, but still very comfortable and fit well in your hands. Especially if you get the smaller 6-button controller. This is a must have for any gamer who values great games with great gameplay.

I’ve been a life long Nintendo gamer ever since the NES was released. For me, it was always about
Nintendo and nothing else. But I was always aware of the Sega Genesis and their motto, “Sega does what
Nintendon’t”. Sega does not censor their games. Take the awesome Genesis game “Castlevania-Bloodlines”
for example. On the title screen, red blood drips down and there’s red blood and gore in the game.
None of Nintendo’s Castlevania games show any red blood, it’s all green colored. The NES and SNES consoles
were made for kids. The Genesis consoles 1-3 were made for older people. This is one of the reasons I bought
a Sega Genesis Core System 2 from JJgamesguy on Amazon for under $33 dollars! I got the console, av cord,
power cord, and they even included an extra Genesis controller, how cool is that?
This is the 1st time that I ever owned a Sega Genesis-2, there was a PS2 Sega Genesis disc of various
Genesis games that I bought 10yrs ago and still have it. Some of the games on that disc are good games and
some of them I don’t care for. That was my only experience with Genesis for awhile. I have to admit, it was
Castlevania-Bloodlines for the Genesis that convinced me to buy a Genesis 2 console.
The Genesis controllers are very well made, tough, and built to last. The Genesis model 2 design is a lot
smaller than the Genesis model 1 and it fit’s right next to my N64, lol. The sound & graphics are amazing
even for a 16 bit system. I plan on buying more Genesis games in the future, the games are very affordable.
If you look around carefully on Amazon, you can find a Genesis 2 with everything included. I would highly
recommend JJgames.com and they also have a storefront on Amazon. They have good prices and really
nice people who care about their customers. So, if you’re a retro gaming fan like I am, do yourself a favor
and buy one from Amazon. You will definitely have a lot of fun with the Genesis model 2.

I bought this game system for my son, actually he used his own money – have spent another $35 buying power cords and such, and the damn thing still doesnt work! Will probably have to spent another $50-100 to see if someone can fix it – then I will have spent 4 times the amount that he paid for it, and it probably still wont work!

Original Genesis Model 2 MK-1631 VA1.8 for those who know their hardware. Great condition for such an age, everything is clean. Comes with one original 3-button SEGA gamepade, original 10V power adapter and S-Video to Antenna cable adapter (so make sure to get your own RGB sable or S-Video to HDMI converter for that extra crisp image). Everything works. This is a great deal!

The Sega genesis is a legend. If you don’t believe me then why after almost 20 years are its games showing up on multiple consoles such as the XBOX 360 and PS3? This console saw some of the best days of 2D and the earliest days of 3D gaming. The Genesis core system 1 was the first to be released under the name and it was able to play old Sega Master System games, the first home console with backwards compatibility. The core system 2 had a sleeker design and stereo sound unlike the core 1 which had only mono. Both core 1 and 2 had ports of the Sega CD add on. The last core, the core 3, was a cheaper version. To lower prices on it the port for Sega CD was removed on it and the manufacturing was somewhat below par. In my eyes the Sega Genesis Core 2 is the better choice as it is stereo and supports Sega CD. If however you want to play Genesis and Master System games then a Core 1 is your only option.
