I did speed comparisons of adapter in Thunderbolt vs. USB 3 ports. Both fast. Speed using this device was fast even when I was backing the computer up via a USB 3 port on the BENFEI adapter. This adapter is worth a lot more to me than what I paid.

I had low hopes for this, but it 100% solved the problem of not having a typical RJ45 network jack on my new laptop + has other great features.
It is plug-and-play, no fussing around with installation or other nonsense. The multi-use cap is clever and allows more flexibility between USB-A and USB-C connections, and a protective cover is included to keep the end clean. The triple USB-A slots dramatically expand the option for accessories.

This adapter is sturdy and very useful ! It does heat up a bit, but nothing alarming. I love the color and how easy it was to use. You will have to install a driver for it to work well!

My biggest gripe is needing the d##m thing to begin with.
Why not settle on one connector and be done with it.
It doesn’t quite do everything – but, it does enough wirh the most popular surviving plugs – that it “can” be used with most of my surviving gadgets.
It works.
For the application that I bought it for, it kind of worked. The product was OK. The device I was using it with was not capable of doing what I wanted it to do.
Technical limitations won out over my aspirations.
Ya win some, ya loose some.
No reason to blame the product.

BENFEI 2 in 1 USB-C/USB 3.0 to Ethernet Adapter
Excellent adapter, exactly what I needed. Works perfect on my wife’s MacBook Air (USB-A) and her new MacBook Pro M2 (USB-C) connecters and my Asus Laptop (USB –A and C). The Ethernet connection works seamlessly in all cases and is a huge help when traveling were Wi-Fi is not available and when you want a more secure or faster connection then Wi-Fi provides.
Comes with a disk but for us it was just plug and play no issues.
The 3 USB-A ports all work just fine and all laptops recognize the ports. Ran with an old CD Disk to load picture onto a disk from the MacBook Pro and no issues.
One thing to note is that the USB-C block is the same size as a regular USB-A block but the USB-C male end is offset and is able to connect next to the power input for the MacBook and other inputs on my ASUS, so no space issues.
The only possible negative that really isn’t, is that the cable is a bit stiff making placement a bit awkward yet still manageable and it being stiff likely makes it more durable.
So really I have no complaints, good quality, really does what I need it to do.
I would recommend to my friends and family.
