I moved my HP Color Laserjet to my office. For my home office, I purchased this beauty. I rarely need color printing at home and the cost of 4 coloring toner cartridges is outrageous. This model has only one cartridge and you can get it on the hp instant program which costs you 50% of a store purchased one.

I ordered this printer to set up a new home office. I previously had an HP Laserjet 400 MFP M425dn and while it was reliable and worked really well, it was very large. This one seems to have the same footprint, but it’s only about 2/3 as tall and it’s off-white and gray instead of black, like my old one, so I like the look a lot better. Both machines print 35pom, but this new one has a much faster first page print speed, so it feels like it’s faster. The 3101 is also wireless, while the old one wasn’t, so that’s very convenient. Set up was very fast and easy. Highly recommend!

So far so good on the quality of prints and scans, no more Ink Jet’s for my monochrome documents printing!
The control panel on this Laser Jet is clear and easy to use, but just a little small for my “old eyes” 🙂 That all said, I missed out on a $30 price drop from HP Direct (reg $259) which started today on 2-11-24 and so I’m now chewing on whether or not I should return this one for the better price point HP Direct unit since Amazon does not offer price difference credit.

I have always liked HP printers, so I bought one for my small business last summer. After a couple of months, it was already failing. It was within the timeframe I could return it so I did (although I only got about 80% of my original purchase price back). Thinking this was just a fluke, I ordered the same model again. It’s only been nine months, and it will no longer scan to the computer, and the ADF reader has stopped working. I have now ordered another printer, but this time I am not buying from HP.
