I use this device on my newer laptop that does not have a DVD drive and runs Windows 11. Connected with USB 3 cable but also comes with USB type C able. Win 11 had no problem seeing device and connecting. I like the idea I can move device across multiple laptops and when not needed just put it away. Hate using older technology but. when you need it you need it. Inexpensive and convenient solution.

I recently purchased the External DVD Drive USB 3.0 Type-C CD Burner Portable CD +/-RW Drive DVD Player for ROM, and I couldn’t be more pleased with its performance. From the moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by its sleek and compact design. It’s lightweight and portable, making it incredibly easy to carry around and perfect for on-the-go use.
The dual interface (USB 3.0 and Type-C) is a huge plus, as it offers flexibility and compatibility with both older and newer devices. Setting it up was a breeze—just plug it in, and it’s ready to go. No need for additional drivers or software installations, which is a big time-saver.
Performance-wise, this DVD drive is top-notch. It reads and writes CDs and DVDs quickly and efficiently, with no hiccups or delays. I’ve used it to play DVDs, burn CDs, and even install software from discs, and it has handled everything flawlessly. The USB 3.0 connection ensures fast data transfer, which is noticeable when copying large files.
Overall, this is an excellent external DVD drive that delivers on all fronts—performance, design, and ease of use. If you’re in need of a reliable and versatile external DVD drive, I highly recommend this one. It’s worth every penny and definitely deserves a 5-star rating!

I got this Ziweo drive to replace an LG DVD burner I had been using for about a year. I burn quite a few DVDs and the LG lasted 500 discs or so. I replaced it with this drive entirely because of its low price, but was pleasantly surprised to see it works even better for me than the reliable old LG did.
One of the big things in the plus column for me is that this drive is slightly larger than my LG drive which gives the disc more clearance inside the disc bay. This is important. I have had several issues with discs failing to duplicate because of extra-thick disc labels. These types of labels left very little room inside the LG disc drive, and sometimes the disc would skip off the top of the drive and the burning or reading process would be ruined. This new drive is only a few millimeters thicker than the LG, but this tiny amount of extra room means no more ruined discs due to label issues!
On top of that, the drive is built much more solidly than the LG drive and it generates a lot less heat and vibration. Sometimes if I was burning discs on the go and had to set my disc burner on whatever surface was available, the LG would rattle so hard it would slide off. Not so with this Ziweo drive! It is compact and light, but just satisfyingly solid enough to be durable and to hold its own weight down while it is spinning discs. It also has some decent anti-skid rubber on the bottom to keep it from sliding.
The only “drawback” I see is that the max read speed is 24x where some drives go as high as 56x. However, I am not counting off against Ziweo for that. When duplicating discs, I had many issues where the disc image wouldn’t work when copied at a high speed, and turning the read speed down to 24x resolved this. Since I automatically set max read speed at 24x when duplicating discs, this lower read speed does not affect me. It also does not affect playback of CDs or DVDs so don’t let this hold you back.
That’s another note. While the Ziweo drive does burn DVDs at 8x like most other drives, I ALWAYS set burn speeds for a max of 4x. This is because every single drive I have used, even expensive drives by HP, Hitachi, LG, and Dell, has produced a fair amount of failed discs when burning at 8x but this rarely ever happens at 4x. Since I only burn at 4x I cannot speak to how the Ziweo performs at 8x. However, it has now burned ten dual-layer DVD+Rs at 4x with no issue.
I would definitely recommend this Ziweo DVD burner! You won’t beat these features and construction quality at this price, from someone who burns 10 to 15 DVDs a week.

Recently my Desktop Tower PC had died & I had replaced it with a Micro computer NUC that did NOT have an internal CD/DVD drive (There’s no room !) I figured I’d just buy an external drive online and there were plenty around with good reviews at about $20. This one looked to fit the bill & it arrived in about a day or two. It did take a small amount of fiddling to get it working as expected, but I got it to where I wanted it. I set it up on my desktop & there it sat …
Fast forward to 2 months later & I needed to rip a large number of CD’s for my mom to a thumb drive. The first 2 CD’s went fine but then the trouble started. The next CD wouldn’t read. Okay, these were old & not well kept, so I tried another. That wouldn’t read. So I tried one of my CD’s (which were perfectly fine) and those wouldn’t read. And now I couldn’t get the CD out as it just kept spinning & ignored the eject request. I had to unplug it & stick a pin in the EJECT hole. I tried rebooting the computer to clear the cache & reinstalled the drive itself. No good ! So I left it alone (I did have actual WORK to do) and decided I would try again in the AM.
I reconnected it this morning & things LOOKED promising. It read the first CD & started writing. But soon it had errored out & wouldn’t read the disc again. And this was MY CD, not my mom’s. I tried several CD’s afterwards & the media player wouldn’t recognize them. I have had enough. I’m just angry that the stupid thing is no longer returnable (the window expired 2 weeks ago.) I have since ordered another drive from a brand I recognize & have just chalked this up as a learning experience. Caveat Emptor ….

For 20 bucks I could not be happier. It plugged into my PC Windows 10. No issues being recognized. No drivers to download. Speed is fine, boots up fast and plays DVDs. My purpose is to transfer family movies from DVD to MP4 on the computer. No issues whatsoever. I am using the USB-C adapter into a PC. Sure it is way too short like everyone says but works for me. A simple solution would be an extender; female to male USB cord, a minor hassle if a real problem for someone’s setup. Yes it is all cheap plastic and may not last, but it’s a DVD / CD RW for $20 shipped in 1 day.

Not the greatest review sorry. But i purchased it for when the internet goes down i can still intertain myelf with good oll fasion DVD movies. However i have only used it one time. But it worked fine. i would recommend getting a usb extention if your not just using it for a laptop. The cord is a bit short in my opinion. Other than that. No complaints. And also make sure to download the VLC player program. Works best for this player.

I bought this to rip Music CDs to my computer, did about 50 of them and stopped for a couple of weeks. When I hooked it back up, it no longer worked for some reason. My original review was very bad based solely on it dying so quickly. However, the seller saw my review and gladly took care of the problem, despite it being past the time of an easy return to Amazon. They were proactive and I have to hand it to them. The replacement they sent works fine so far, and hopefully for the long-term this time. I will ALWAYS come back for excellent customer service (and they’d have 5 stars if the original product hadn’t been defective…..those things happen.)

This DVD/CD reader was purchased to use with an HP windows 10 notebook computer that didn’t have a built in device. It was inexpensive and easy to use with no additional software required, just plug and play. It work well and allowed the installation of software in a CD as well as being able to play music CDs. Good value for the price!

Plugged it into my laptop which doesn’t have a DVD drive and it worked right away. I loaded a bunch of DVD’s and CD’s into it and they all played fine. Did a couple of test disk writes and they were fine as well. Nero DiscSpeed verified high quality writes. For such a reasonable price, I can’t complain. The short cord could be a little longer but that’s about it. Keep in mind that this drive can only read CD’s and DVD’s BUT……you can write 1080P and 4K files to your blank DVD’s and they will be read fine as well.
Oh, I removed a couple of screw and had a look inside the case……WOW! it’s actually got a SONY drive. Delightfully surprised!
